A year ago, we saved some money from the sale of our house and purchased family room furniture. It is our only big ticket purchase since poor-have kids-be students-life began 6 years ago. The coffee table has had a rough year. I am not sure when they manufactured it, they meant for it to be a launching pad, chair, race track, drum, hut, and wrestling arena. Slowly but surely it has started to fit in with the other used furniture. On the other hand, the leather couches have remained relatively unscathed. Until, today that is.
Al and I spent Sunday nap time, attempting to remove over 20 ball-point pen ink marks from all 3 pieces. The artist had marked every cushion, back and side of each piece. Some marks were as short as an inch, some longer than a foot. We held an unsuccessful tribunal council to find the artist. We were left to our own reasoning.
It couldn't have been anyone other than Caleb. AJ or Aly would have drawn a picture of some sort. Abby would have made circles and maybe done one or two cushions. Jake would have scribbled up and down in one spot. No one other than Caleb would draw lines sporadically on every couch just because.
Now, I have faint gray lines and discolored leather circles to remind me what the next 16 years of life with Caleb could really mean. It is a good thing that he is so cute.

What great deductive reasoning! You must be good at the game of Clue.
Poor Caleb. He should at least have a trial:)
He is sooo cute. I can see your side of the family in him. He looks a lot like your brothers.
Your right lisa it's a good thing he is so cute. he looks so innocent in his picture. How could that sweet face be the cause of such chaos. And yet I've seen that look before. My Mom always warned me about those "innocent looking" ones.
I went to the potty website and it says the book is $27. How did you get it for $8? And was yours an "e-book"?
Did you try pump hair spray on the ink spots? Hair spray worked wonders on my sofa. I can imagine you do lots of deep breathing (deep breaths... ahh...) which is very healthy! I know, not funny.
Invest your money in something other than nice things for your children to destroy!!! Maybe spa trips for you, great vacations and get a nanny! Then when the kids move out, go for it!
