The List

Everyone has one. Before you have children you have the list of things that you swear that your kids will never do. I have to admit that I had quite the lengthy list. I learned quickly that there are some things that you just can't control, like when you baby is teething the front of their shirt will have that wet 'V'. There are other things that aren't worth the pain to the child. After the 100th nose wipe and scream of the day you realize that it would be better for all parties just to let it run for a while. But, the majority of my list has remained intact.

Today I crossed a barrier that I never thought I would. I have some pretty strict standards as to what can/cannot be worn out of the house. We left the house today for Abby's therapy session with Caleb wearing soccer cleats and AJ in his soccer uniform. Not only is there not a game today, but the season is over. And what color is the uniform? Neon Green. I didn't even make a great attempt to get him to change before school, with those sad eyes I easily gave in.

Maybe it isn't that big of a deal. Then again, it could signal the demise of an era. The kids could start looking like and acting like the Herdmans from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Hopefully, it is just a weakness for all things soccer.

Oh, the blesses Herdmans. We should get together and watch that show when you are in town - just for old times sake.
