It was another marathon morning of getting all five kids ready by myself and to our church by 8:30 am. Al has meetings at the church that he leaves early for. As the service began, Al mentioned how nice the kids looked and as I looked down the pew, I saw something different. It has been a rough couple of days for this crew and head injuries.
Jake has a mysterious bruise on his eyelid. One- I didn't know that eyelids could bruise and Two- I have no idea where it came from.
Abby has a scrap, puffiness, and black under her right eye. Also, a mystery as to where it came from. She started her nap on Friday without it but had it when she woke up.
Caleb has a few chunks of hair missing due to the "great haircut" his siblings were happy to give him earlier this week with blunt kid scissors. They were nice enough to put the haircut cape on him so he wouldn't get itchy. And what is a good haircut without a style? They managed to use gel, mousse, hairspray, and tamer.
Aly tripped this morning with her toothbrush in her mouth while chasing Abby around, causing huge amounts of blood. She spent a good 20 minutes this morning with a washcloth in her mouth. Being such a princess she was sure to keep all blood off her clothes. It was one of those times I was grateful for the princess behavior as we didn't have time to change clothes anyway. I had a long talk with everyone in the car about why Mom tells you to stay in the bathroom to brush your teeth. I am sure they all took it to heart.
AJ had remained unscathed this week but did manage to spill toothpaste all over his black vest this morning, which I had foolishly attempted to wipe off with a wet hand towel as we were walking out the door. You know the reappearing toothpaste story. You get it wet and it disappears for five minutes until it comes back even more visible.
Unbelievably (or maybe believable as things in our clan go), as I was thinking about all of these things, Jake with his fiery-red personality threw his head against the pew in front of us, cutting his lip and spraying blood everywhere.
Hopefully, this week will be a little less eventful, but it is unlikely.

Yikes! And I thought we had a rough couple of days! At least you hopefully had a break in Sunbeams today, with the main trouble culprit out sick. :) Let's hope for a less eventful week!
Lisa, I just found your blog... you are hilarious! You should write a book! I'm glad to hear you guys are doing well, despite the bumps and bruises!
Lisa Theurer- I'm so glad you linked me up with your blog. Now I can laugh like I do at your Christmas cards on a weekly basis. Thanks for being so witty and telling it like it is. That is surely how we have always stayed friends. Thanks for remembering my b-day. I always think of you a the end of Aug and I even remember your old phone #. I guess there are those things you just don't forget. Keep in touch!
