Turkey Bowling

A few friends of mine all needed to get out of the house: away from stinky diapers, whiney voices, and snotty noses. We went bowling tonight. Not any old place, but a bowling alley in the middle of a residential area, that held a Pro tournament last weekend, and also has $1.50 games late at night.

My background in bowling is not pretty. I can hit enough pins not to be embarrassed. However, I can't hit those pins without embarrassing those around me. My windup is slightly unconventional. It really is difficult to describe but my legs pretty much do their own thing (kicks, tucks, slides). I have tried to bowl "normal" but gutter it every time.

The first game we played I tried to keep my legs from going everywhere to save face of others that were with me. I bowled a 68. Me and the girl with bad arthritis tied while everyone else broke 100.

The second game I didn't care what anyone else at the alley thought, I was not going to lose again. I am slightly competitive. Despite losing my dignity, I bowled a strike on the first, second, third, and fourth frames. Twice the turkey picture came up with my name. I have never bowled that well. I did end the game as the clear winner. I am afraid that I may have had the advantage. The others were a little more concerned about charting my leg movements than focusing on their own games.

An older man came up to us in the middle of our second game and said, "Looks like you are having a good time." To which my friend replied, "Yeah, we don't get out much." He answered back with, "I can tell." Thanks girls for a great break from reality!
