The Motherhood Creed

Everything in motherhood either gets undone or you don't see the results for 20 years.

Today was no exception. I used all my "free time" today to do laundry and get the house clean. During my walk through tonight I noticed: fingerprints all over the sparkling clean sliding door, a pathway of crumbled leaves from the front door to the boys room blending into the vacuum lines, soap and toothpaste splashed on the bathroom mirror, muddy footprints all over the toilet lid and tank, and a pile of peed on clothes from a not-so-close accident on top of my just-ran-10-loads washer.

It is hard to remember that they are just kids and someday I will wish they hadn't grown up so fast. Hopefully I will then be reaping my rewards from all the years of behavior management, homework help, and falling into bed exhausted every night.

It is a good thing that they are cute!

Your kids are so dang cute!!! Hang in there on the cleaning thing...I think that most of us type A's are slowly figuring out what is important and what can wait. Even if it has to wait for what seems like 18 yrs:) Keep up the strong work. It won't be too long and you will be reaping the rewards of your hard work! I just wanted to let you know that I love your blog. You keep me laughing, although I am fairly positive that you aren't laughing during most of your episodes, but hopefully some of them. Take care!

And cute they are!! They sure have grown up! You know, if you just don't bother cleaning, then it won't get undone. :) If only that were possible, right?

AAAAA-men sister! And I only have 1/5 of the damage control that you do. Would you like to be my hero?

I can't believe how big Ali and Abby are looking! Your kids really are all so cute. And I love that every time I see pictures of them it just makes me laugh because I know that something funny was probably happening right before and right after they managed to look so sweet for the camera. Derek and I are getting so excited to have all of you closer next year!

Today I can actually empathize with you. Do you think they will ever thank us for all the effort or just the fact that we allowed them to live past childhood? Funpost!

Yeah, we get about one month of coats down here and I don't think we own any mittens anymore. Do you guys know if you are coming to Texas yet? I'm so excited to finally be seeing pictures of your kids, they are adorable! I can't believe AJ is so old!

They do look so cute! I love that saying of yours, I use it all the time! Life is a lot easier if you can accept that from the start :)

Oh Lisa I feel the same way. I will say that baby #3 has change a lot for me. I am less frustrated now then I was before and trying to remember that they grow up so fast. I'm trying to enjoy my kids more instead of always looking at what they've done wrong or messed up. It's a work in progress. Oh to be the perfect mom. LOL!
