Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Our fishing excursion could have gone better. The regular motor broke less than 100 yards from the dock. We had to use the electric motor, going 3 mph. We thought we really were going to have to row. I realized after 10 minutes that fishing and food wasn't going to be enough to entertain the kids this time.

Jake: red faced, screaming, eating mushed up animal crackers off the bottom of the boat, drenching his mom with water bottle

Abby: stomping on animal crackers on the bottom of the boat, picking up the crumbs and feeding them to Jake and then licking her fingers, dumping the contents of her water bottle into the lake, closing her eyes and pretending to be blind

Caleb: sneaking into the tackle box, finding the emergency whistle, blowing the whistle as loud as he could, playing with the live bait

AJ: seeing how many times he could get his line tangled, complaining he wasn't catching anything because his bobber wasn't working

Aly: help Mana take pictures of the event, pouting, stealing everyone elses treats, telling me that I needed to hold her fishing pole.

Lisa: begging the man at the bait shop to take her credit card even though the bait was under their minimum, trying to keep kids from eating something toxic, explain to Mana why fishing is so fun, trying to find anything to help Abby's sensory seeking, and untangling lines

Al: praying that the battery to the electric motor wouldn't give out, untangling lines, baiting hooks, try to supervise Caleb

Mana: wondering why anyone would ever want to go fishing

Fish: laughing to themselves that the people in this small tin boat actually thought that they could still trick the fish into biting despite the humans yelling, shallow hooks, and camp songs, jumping out of the water close to boat just to spite humans

I love it! Your poor exchange student isn't going to know what to think of Americans.
