Life

Sometimes I wonder if I am living The Truman Show, there is someone plotting my life in order to entertain others.

I have some friends that get together once a month to just relax and have some non-mom time. This month's was close to my house, so I figured I would walk. Two blocks from 1051 Lakeland Dr, it started drizzling. I didn't worry because I was actually prepared and pulled an umbrella out of my bag. I had a few moments enjoying my Gene Kelly moment and thought about singing my own soundtrack out loud. My happy thoughts were interrupted when I realized that Lakeland Dr dead-ended at 936. I was lost. Almost on cue, the downpour started. It was a true mid-west downpour that goes zero to 60 in 5.2. As I was calling my GPS aka Al, my umbrella turned inside out. GPS pointed out that I needed Lakebush and not Lakeland. After offering to come and pick me up, he got me headed on the right path and I was about 100 feet from my 1051 Lakebush when I realized that I had added 10 pounds of water to the bottom 2 feet of my jeans and did I really want to sit for the next 3 hours in the wetness? I turned to go back home to change. Halfway home, I noticed that there was a large puddle on the side of the busy street that cars were soaking the sidewalk with. I saw a break in the traffic and made a run for it. My platform sandals didn't want to cooperate and I reached the puddle the same time as a large SUV. I unsuccessfully tried to use my umbrella as a shield. My kids were surprised to see a soaking wet, muddy, grassy mom walk through the door.

Armed with clean jeans, good walking shoes, and a large umbrella I headed back into the street. Mr. GPS really wondered why I wouldn't just drive. But where's the adventure...

I love checking out your blog for a good laugh and to realize that my life could be crazier. I hope there's someone out there you can watch and realize that things could be crazier...problem is, I can't think of any:) Keep up the good work!

That's awesome! I probably would've given up and just gone home and to bed! I want to be as relaxed as you when I grow up! :)
