Observations of a 2 Year Old

I am not a morning person. I can stay up until 3 am without effort, but every morning getting out of bed is a chore. This morning was no different and perhaps a little worse due to the horrible "mother" week last week and the unofficial first day of DST.

To make-up for my morning laziness, Al has made a nice hot breakfast every morning for the kids for the last year. It is much easier to convince yourself to get out of bed, if you only have to hand a plate of already prepared nutritous food to each kid.

I am laying in bed alert to the fact that Al is leaving in about 5 minutes, and my shift will begin. As I roll over and cover my head one last time, I hear AJ's puking noises in the kitchen. My conscience gets the best of me and I go to see how I can help. Since Al is the puke patrol when he is home, I finish making breakfast. While I am cooking the pancakes, Caleb says over and over again, "Mom, that's Dad's job." I try to explain to him over and over again that mom can do it just as well and then realize, wouldn't it be great if ever child in the world thought it was Dad's job to make pancakes!
