New Olympic Sport: Ice Shoveling
When Al got home last night, I headed outside to shovel the driveway. Why wouldn't my macho husband be the one shoveling? Most of the time he does, but when I have a choice between setting the table while listening to 5 munchkins running and yelling or going outside in the quiet, is it an easy choice. The snow was like nothing I had encountered before. The bottom layer was icy, followed by a layer of powder, with slush on top (sounds like good drink!). I soon discovered that it was incredibly slick. After catching myself from falling a half dozen times, I learned that if a leaned into the shovel and just went with it, I could stay on my feet. I started singing some classical piece in my head and sliding to the music. With a little choreography, maybe the Olympic Team would want me. Then it started to rain, hard. I realized how ridicules I must look and then began laughing out loud at myself. I probably need to get out more. I noticed my neighbor smirk a couple of times due to the sliding and laughing but who was he to think anything, he was clearing his driveway with an oversized squeegee.
